Automated Servo Presses

What I especially like in robotics is the system integration part. For it to work, everything must be just right.

When I met Vincent Levannier and Trent Steckler at Tyco Electronics, they were getting ready to develop a new prototype of Automated Servo Press. The idea is to press components into a circuit board (rather than solder). During the press process, force and displacement are constantly monitored, so that the result of the press application is very well documented.
This technology is used is sensitive applications, like telecommunications and air bags for the automobile industry.

Some of the challenges in this new assignment was to restructure the software pretty much entirely to allow for multi language capabilities.

Thank you Vincent, Trent, Greg, Peter and everybody at Tyco Electronics.
